Google's SMS And Instant Messaging App Is leaked to Have more material In It After the Previous Material Update.
This Update will include a lot of drastic changes in the UI including the Icon.
The Slide-From-Left-End To Open the menu Is now integrated with the app.

In the end, it seems that this update probably doesn't represent Hangouts' final materialization. There are still a few quirks to work out, and even the settings menu retains the old holo-style layout and checkboxes. That said, it's still a step in the right direction, and hopefully we won't have too long to wait for the app to complete its metamorphosis.
