Here's our take on the next "big" flagship phone - Samsung Galaxy S5

The world was waiting for their next flagship. The Samsung Galaxy S5. And here's the first look:

When and How can we buy it?

The price of the device is expected to be roughly around 600 Euros or 825 Dollars or 51 grand INR. The device will be available soon in United Kingdom and will gradually come in other countries as well.

Good or Bad?

This is certainly not what we expected. Samsung, like always, boasts on its specs and has done the same this time as well. Upgrades to the camera and the battery are noteworthy, but one would expect more from the South-Korean giant. S5 followed the lines of Apple IPhone 5S and the HTC One Max by introducing a finger-print scanner. Sounds great, doesn't it? But no..! What lacks here is innovation as the S5 has the same old launcher with a bit of new icons and is very much similar to S4 in terms of the lockscreen, the plastic body and a few other specs. Also, a lot of icons are as white as stock KitKat, unlike Samsung's previously grey icons.

What's good is the brilliant bright new UI of the status bar. The icons are vibrant, colorful and innovative. The device is also super-fast and water proof. Much better camera and an on-screen finger-print scanner. These things could well work for Samsung this time.

Other devices

Samsung's two additions in the smart watch list have Tizen running on them and it will be interesting to see whether Samsung's decision to shun Android works for them. Both devices are compatible with S5 and will soon will be compatible with other devices as well. The smartwatches allow users to track their heartbeat and an in-built LED notifies things from other devices and will also allow them to control the devices, including a Samsung TV.
